About The Process

We hope that our website provides you with useful information and takes you “behind the scenes” and gives you a better understanding about what is involved when T-shirts or other garments are printed.

The general term used for printing onto clothing is “Silk Screening”.  When branding onto clothing, the logo or artwork is exposed onto a silk screen which creates a perforated stencil, allowing the ink to penetrate through onto the garment.

The machine prints one colour at a time which allows the ink to dry before printing the next colour.  Each time a new colour is used the machine is cleaned and the ink pots are refilled with the pantone colour required.

The same process happens over and over until the entire logo or design is complete.

Step One: T-Shirt Stock PulledStep 1 - We Receive your Order

Our stock controllers pull the stock from the warehouse and mark it "reserved".

A job number is allocated which includes your company name and contact details, and the information pertaining to your T-Shirt order.

The Job Number is attached to the bales of T-shirts, with instructions pertaining to the size breakdown required.

Step Two: T-shirt Artwork ApprovalStep 2 - You Send us your Artwork

Your artwork (logo or design) is emailed to our in-house design team who prepare an “Artwork Approval Sheet”.All information pertaining you your artwork is captured on this document.

Before the screens are made the Artwork Approval Sheet is emailed to you to approve the size and positioning of the artwork and the pantone colours. Pantone colours ensure that colour representations are exactly the same as the colours used in your CI (Corporate Identity).

The “Artwork Approval Sheet" is signed and faxed back to us as confirmation that the artwork is correct.

Step Three: Client ApprovalStep 3 - You Confirm that we Understand your Order

Once the “Artwork Approval” has been signed and faxed or emailed back to us, your job information is captured into our in-house job control system which tracks the progress of the job.

Step Four: Creating Positives and Screens for your Particular Job Step 4 - Your Artwork is Prepared for Printing

Artwork screens are prepared in the dark room. This is a process whereby the images are exposed onto a silk screen. One screen is required per colour, so if you have a 4 colour logo or design, we need to prepare 4 screens.

Once the screens are ready, they are washed to create a perforated stencil which enables the ink to penetrate through the screen onto the garment, making up the logo or design colour by colour.

Step Five: Unpack StockStep 5 - The T-shirts are Unpacked and Sorted

The t-shirts are unpacked and unfolded in preparation to be loaded onto the machines for printing.

Step Six: Setting Up The Machines for your JobStep 6 - The Inks are Prepared for your Job

The inks matching the pantone colours in your logo or design are pulled from the Ink Room.

If your pantone colour isn’t a stock colour, we mix the ink to create the correct colour.

The machines are cleaned and the ink pots are re-filled in preparation for printing your job.

Step Seven: Loading T-shirts onto the MachinesStep 7 - The T-shirts are Loaded onto the Machine

The T-shirts are manually loaded onto the ... and secured into place with a ... This holds the garment in place ensuring 100% accuracy when printing colour upon colour to build up to the completed logo.

Step Eight: SilkscreeningStep 8 - The Printing Begins

During this process, the printer arm swishes up and down pressing the ink through the stencil on the screen, and onto the garment. The first “” uses ink matching the first colour in the logo or design, and the second “” uses the second colour and so the process goes on depending on how many colours are being printed. Once the first colour has been applied, the “” moves to the next “” for the 2nd colour to be applied. The process repeats itself until all the colours have been applied to make up the logo or design.

Step Nine: Drying ProcessStep 9 - The Print gets Cured

Once the T-shirts have been printed they go through the drying tunnel to cure the ink.

This is a very important step in the process because the curing of the ink ensures the ink won’t wash out or fade over time.

Step Ten: Stacking before PackagingStep 10 - The T-shirts are Prepared for Packaging

The T-shirts are checked for quality and stacked before they are sent through to the packing room.

The T-shirts are stacked onto pallets and moved to the packing room.

Step Eleven: Packing T-ShirtsStep 11 - Packing T-Shirts
